Q: What is Ceramic Brake Pad?
A: Ceramic (HI-Per) is brake pad formulation which is Designed for Hi performance specifically to give drive stability at high speed braking / severe braking conditions, delivers high performance and aggressive braking.

Q: Whether New Brake Pad can be fitted on existing Brake Rotor?
A : Yes, however check the rotor wear (not exceeding wear 2 mm) and in case of any scoring marks on rotor, it is advisable to skim the rotor at authorised workshop.

Q: Why brake pad / shoe should change as an axle set?
A: If the pad / shoe is replaced at one side only of the axle, the vehicle might tend to pull during brake application, since the old pad / shoe (at other side) at bedded condition but newly replaced pad / shoe will not have proper bedding.

Q: What are all the parts to be replaced during brake pad change?
A: For better brake performance, it is recommended that, along with brake pad replacement, Anti Rattle Clips and sliding pin greasing to be changed. This will avoid excessive drag there by brake pad life won’t be deteriorated.

Q: What is the service limit of brake rotor?
A: The typical service limit of brake rotor is 2 mm wear from its original thickness

Q: What will impact while using poor quality / worn out brake rotor?
A: The disc brake rotor is a very important part of the braking system. As it is a safety critical part, attention and care must be taken to maintain this part in good condition. Poor quality rotor or worn-out rotor can lead to brake failures and cause danger to the life of the driver, co-passengers and pedestrian.

Q: After new brake pad change, what are all the points to be taken care?
A: In order to bed the brake pads to the brake disc and ensure good performance, the vehicle user must be instructed to avoid heavy braking or sustained periods with the brakes applied, for few Kms (~50 kms) after installing new pads.

Q: What is Rotor combo kit?
A: Rotor combo kits are serviced with 2 Rotor (1 LH & 1 RH) and 1 Kit Pad. This is recommended because the rotors and friction need to be replaced as axle set only for better brake performance.

Q: Why TVS-Apache Brake Rotor?
A: Optimized Design for Max Cooling, Better Geometry for efficient braking, Low Thermal Stress for Higher Life, Low thermal expansion for better fuel efficiency, excellent compatibility for lower NVH characteristics

Q : Whether reconditioning recommended for carrier / Sliding Pin in disc brake?
A: Grinding the sliding pin, inserting metal sleeve on carrier hole and boring the carrier hole will affect the brake performance and hence not recommended. Alternatively, we recommend to use new kit carrier assembly in order to overcome the sliding pin rattle noise.

Q : What type of grease to be used for lubricating the sliding pin?
A: Special grease are recommended to be used in Caliper Sliding Pin which are serviced in sachet by TVS-Girling. These special purpose grease are different from general purpose grease or hub grease.

Q : Is Aluminium cylinder can be used in place of Cast Iron cylinder wherever interchangeability possible?
A : Yes, Aluminium have the benefits of high corrosion resistance, durability and light weight. Hence it is recommended to use Aluminium cylinders.

Q: What are all the parts to be replaced during Rear Lined shoe change?
A: Shoe return springs to be changed along with Lined shoe for better brake performance. During braking application, Shoe return springs are stretched and takes new position when the lining wears and tends to loose its tension over a period of time. Old shoe return springs with new lined shoe will decrease lining life and leads overheating issues.

Q: Why Brake Fluid should be changed frequently as per schedule?
A: Brake Fluid is hygroscopic. This means it has got a tendency to absorb moisture from atmospheric air which will bring down the Boiling point (BP) of brake fluid over as period of time. Also, dark or black colour brake fluid is a sign of contamination. In order to have effective braking, it is recommended to flush out the old brake fluid and replace with new TVS-Girling brake fluid every 40 K kms or 2 years whichever is earlier.

Q: Whether DOT 3 brake Fluid mix up with DOT 4 (exists on the vehicle) recommended?
A: It is not effective since its affect the DOT 4 specification.

Q: Whether DOT 4 brake Fluid mix up with DOT 3 (exists on the vehicle) recommended?
A: DOT 3 brake fluid exists on the vehicle is good condition, then DOT 4 top up can be recommended.

Q: What is the colour for TVS-Girling Brake fluid?
A: DOT 3 - crimson red, DOT 4 and DOT 4 Plus – Colourless.

Q: What is advantages of DOT4 PLUS?
A: It has high boiling point & low viscous at -40℃ and specially formulated for ABS vehicle.

Q: What is EZClean?
A: Ezclean is a spray used for cleaning oil traces on Pads / Lining / Rotors etc. Reduce noise characteristics of disc brakes. Safe to use with brake parts.

Q : Why TVS-Gilling EZclean best over other brake cleaners?
A: TVS-Girling EZclean is Safe and compatible to use with brake rubber parts.
